The dishes are done, mostly.

Lately I've been wondering what the bare minimum could be that I could live on, which still be comfortable and not be in a shack or something.

What's wrong with a shack?

Seriously, are you thinking of leaving home?

I would be happy in a shack - nice opportunity to get a log burner in.

Nice and cool in the summer.

I may have this option later on if I am forced to sell my home this year.

What about a caravan?

Raleigh: No, I'm just thinking about what I could do to be more independent, and wondering what job I could do that I would actually love, and where I could live that would be the best habitat for me, and wondering what I will do in ten years, and how much 'stuff' I actually need to live day to day.

Tem: I can't drive because of my eye.

^ you could live in a caravan on site, they can be very cosy and comfortable.

I know you can get by with very little and still be happy.

I would love a little shack by the beach.
My uncle used to have one, built entirely himself out of recycled materials, but a cyclone flattened it one year, and then they wouldn't let people build there again.
I loved staying there as a kid.
It had a kerosene shower, which was a great novelty for a kid that liked to play with matches. :)

Many people survive. Not many people truly live.

Somewhere sunny, warm, and nature-y, and some place big enough to hold lots of books.

So would you move from your area?
Would you leave Canada?

Who knows how you will feel in 10 years time or what your situation will be.
I know a few people who make money from writing and one who has published her books.
What if you became a famous writer?

I wouldn't so much like to be famous. But I would like to be successful. Perhaps I already am.
