My partner's coming with me.

No, it's not that bad.
The fights are usually dealt with pretty quickly.

From my experience on trains, I haven't experienced too many "punch-ups," unless the train is crowded.

Usually, on a nine-hour journey, people are too preoccupied, somehow, to care about other people too much--all they want is their space and their seat.

You might have the occasional drunken idiot.....but, usually, ignoring them does the trick. And the drunk promptly falls asleep.

About three weeks ago, this drunken guy was admitted on a NYC bus. Somehow, he paid the fare.

He promptly fell asleep, thereby forcing the bus driver to stop the bus while he called for "backup."

Luckily, the guy woke up when "backup" arrived; otherwise, I would have had to wait ANOTHER half-hour for a bus after I had previously waited a HALF HOUR for THIS bus. And this was around MIDNIGHT.

The drunk falling asleep would have terminated the route, thereby forcing every legitimate passenger off the bus.

I quite like taking in the scenery on a train.
All those things I wouldn't get to see if I was driving.

A good book would be a must too.
And neck pillow.

On the Amtrak (train) route from New York to Boston, the view really sucks. It's usually covered by some wall or other.

It's much better taking a bus on the highway.

I am one who, for some Aspie reason, really enjoys reading highway signs LOL

One of my friends dribbled on my forehead when we were asleep at the back of an army bus coming back from a long journey.

I had my head on his lap and it was the highlight of the journey for some who watched it unfold without waking either of us up.

They just sat there being very quiet having bets about what part of my face it would hit.

Was this "friend" more than a "friend?"

I must confess: I would be able to understand that I'm just a "friend" to a woman whose head is on my lap. But certain thoughts would come about as a result of her being on my lap. Certain thoughts of wanting to stroke her hair....

But I would restrain myself, and just be a friend to her.

No not a romantic friend.

The point is not that I had my head on his lap but our other friends let me get slimed.

Oh. I get it LOL.

I think it was nice that you all trusted each other that much, actually.
