^ pretty sure America has them as well.
They're from the pine moth, so anywhere with pine trees is likely to have them, I suppose.

Yep, we get them here in Kansas, too, although I haven't heard anything about the ones here being dangerous. It's best to avoid touching any hairy caterpillar, though, because usually the hairs can at least give you a rash.

Spraying with kerosene kills them.
You can even set them on fire afterwards, if you're into pyromania.
They've been trekking across the road out front of my place all morning, and there's not enough traffic for effective control via vehicle. :x

They can kill a pet that sniffs them because they release small fibres which are drawn into the nose, mouth and throat.
Dogs can lose their tongues from necrosis.
If a baby put one in their mouth, that would be fatal.

I guess we'll have to endure all the 'real meaning of Easter" crap again shortly.

Easter: The holiday celebrated for the day in which Jesus's pet rabbit mysteriously laid eggs and painted them strange colors to hide them from the evil Jews.

I saw an eagle today. Probably an immature Bald Eagle, but didn't see enough details to tell.
