Alas no, I am balloon free these days.
Last time I saw any was as they drifted overhead all bright colours on a blue sky, as part of a hot air balloon festival.
I was laying on me back in a field watching them float by.
Strangely, music from Boards of Canada describes it rather well.

Sounds like such a serene situation there. Nice, I could do with something like that to chill out to. Boards of Canada is often described as having a nostalgic feel to the music. I think this is a good description as I often feel nostalgia when I listen to it. Don't know why though. I never listened to them as a kid.

Ah, not just me then.
The first time I heard their stuff was here on WP a few months ago and I liked it partially because of the odd nostalgia feelings - which struck me as odd when I first felt them, since the music is like nothing else so it can't actually be nostalgia.

I think it's partly because they use so many old samples from T.V and stuff from long ago.

It seems to have snowed a little, but it is above freezing.

Seems pretty normal to me. I wouldn't dwell on it.

Seems odd to be, but I think you're expected to so it was Ok.

My nephew gave me a lift, and one of his friends was in the car: him in front, me in back and they did all the talking together. Before dropping me off this friend got dropped off. Nephew says "'bye" as he gets out and me sat in back thought "didn't say a word, don't know him - therefore 'bye not required".
Nephew then cheerily (and jokily) calls back to me "Don't be rude now, say goodbye". Ah, Ok: "'bye".
I thought about this for hours and it still makes no sense - why would I say a nice cheery goodbye to someone I don't know and someone I didn't talk to? :?

^i knoww, it felt weird, so i wasn't sure if it came across as weird

but rabbits probably right, i shouldnt dwell on it :?

i got a lift home from another woman's son and made him laugh, so this balances out my feelings of passenger-doofusness abit

Simple social niceties. No point in upsetting others just because it's not something you feel is necessary. I just had to do the whole "have a great Christmas guys" to my brother and his girlfriend (who I must admit I am indifferent to - the girlfriend anyway) and I didn't want to. I just wanted them to leave (took about 10 minutes to say goodbye, just kept repeating the same words in a slightly different order to 3 people) and I just wanted to listen to my music undisturbed, but I said goodbye anyway as it's better to put up with a very minor inconvenience than to offend people.

 Can't help it: the analysis happens and the decision is reached in milliseconds. It never occurs to do anything else until it's too late - if it occurs at all. I almost always behave according to my analysis of the scenario and very very rarely according to "custom" or "social niceties".

Oh god oh god oh god I hate doing that. It's so empty and pointless and I can't get the words out properly because I'm just lying. Not that I wish they'd have a terrible time and burst into flames or anything - just that taking time out to deliberately express sentiments I rarely feel any need to express always feels false, and doubly so because at this time of the year you're really expected to say them.

I agree. And I understand your first comment too. I do the same sort of thing, but manage to change my mind, so it takes a while to get a response from me because I stall and ponder for too long before.

Or give a mega over the top goodbye. Give them an overdose of what they crave so much. Might blow their fuses and fix them a bit.

........ Now I sound like an NT basher  but I couldn't think of a better way to put it.

I might just be in enough of a newt-like state this year to give that a go. Waving a holly branch should help too, I'd think.
