Confused, like I am moving in several directions at once, without moving at all. I fell off the ice cream-cheese wagon over the weekend. I believe that elements of dairy foods, at least in me, are metabolized to substances which fit the opiod receptors in my frontal lobes and limbic system, and make me sleep, and feel confused. Next time I need a cheese-fix or ice cream-fix, I shall try a cold shower.
Anyone else have the problem with dairy food?
Why opioid? AFAIK dairy has l-tyrosine which is eventually converted into serotonin, which yes, might induce sleepiness.
L-tryptophan in milk may boost serotonin, while L-tyrosine in milk may boost dopa, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, There is no epinephrine in brain tissue; the catecholamine pathway in brain ends with the O-methylated and N-methylated products, and with the other terminal products.
Three thousand years ago, a mutation in the milk of western cattle occurred. I believe this mutation was from proline to histidine. It is a strong theory that the resultant milk has a substance--or the milk can be metabolized to a substance--which nicely fits the opioid receptor in the forebrain and the limbic system. Some African, east Indian cattle, and others do not have this mutation.
This effect is different from milk allergy and milk sensitivity. It is in a class by itself, although in its weaker affects it may mimic milk sensitivity.
