My father and I were very close but he passed away several years ago. :(
My mom and I have an extremely awkward relationship.

Do you have any nieces or nephews?

By blood I have two nephews, by adoption one niece. By marriage I don't even know. My wife has quite a few siblings, most of whom I have never met.

What was your favorite record as a child?

As a very young child: "My Beautiful Balloon" by the Fifth Dimension.

When I got older: "Israelites" by Desmond Dekker and the Aces. And "Pata Pata" by Miriam Makeba.

Same question.

Wow! I've never heard of any of those!

My favorite record as a small child was the Man of La Mancha by the original Broadway cast.

Did you ever have a chance to make a lot of money and didn't take it?

- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton
- Someone Saved my Life Tonight (Captain Fantastic / Elton)
- The Lion Sleeps Tonight, ?
- Mr. Postman, Carpenters
- Detroit Rock City and Beth, KISS
- Bungle in the Jungle, Jethro Tull
- Don't Call us We'll Call You, Sugarloaf
- Ballroom Blitz, Sweet
- No No Song, Ringo Starr
- I was Only Joking and You're in my Heart, Rod Stewart
- Night Moves, Bob Segar
- New Kid in Town, Eagles
- Submission, Sex Pistols
- Any and everything by Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles or Ozzy

(not much...)

I was blessed to have an older brother who taught me music. The other little girls listened to disco but I listened to KISS and The Who, even in Kindergarten.

You?

My sister and I both grew up in the 90s, so we listened to boy bands a lot given how popular they were back then.

Same question.

Bless you and the beautiful light of your father also.

That I can relate with in the past tense and very tense it used to be too.

I do ~ seven nephews on account of four brothers, and either a niece or a nephew in five months perhaps on account of a sister.

How about you?

Thank you. My father was a remarkable man and a (literal) hero. He died on Christmas Eve, so that makes it even worse.

My brother adopted his foster-child, and has been a single parent. I've been the quasi-mother figure. It's unusual but it works.

Ouch on the departure time ~ yet total bonus with your father having hero status for you though, and a bonus for your father too no doubt.

My mother and step father did emergency fostering for a number of years, and I have known a few people doing as you describe, so not so unusual in my experience. Vicarious and quasi parenting is rather the done thing though methinks ~ nice one :D lovely

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it as I've had a lot on my mind as of late. My brother and I haven't lived together while raising his child, but we tag-teamed a lot of responsibilities and managed fairly well despite some obvious hurdles. His child moved away for work but is returning any day now, so it will be very nice to catch up.

I have a headache and I'm nodding off, but it's been nice chatting and playing word games today. Thanks for the diversion.

I hope to chat again soon.

Isabella

Your very welcome indeed, and I am very glad to have been of some assistance.

Well there is no greater thing than the love of and for children ~ all the sister and quasi-mother power to you in your heart there.

Bonus.

Not a bonus on the headache, yet the chatting and the word games very much a bonus ~ most especially the run on the 28/05/18 with:

 That was for me a total classic the very moment you posted it ~ very 'very' much appreciated, oh comedienne.

Thank you also ~ plus with divergent minds it would be rather odd not to really :)

No plans for the summer yet.

How has your spring been? (or autumn, if in the Southern Hemisphere)
