The reason I got into car care and maintenance was out of necessity. For some reason or another, I was always broke or close to it. Changing the oil, belts, filters, bulbs, etc was much cheaper if I did it myself.

If my neighbours came up to me and started talking about how fast GTO cars are or how wonderful their new Shelby is I'd probably yawn and walk away, but not where they could see me doing that, though.

Some people may dispute its "manliness" factor, but I love to play around with computer hardware, and I haven't really met too many girls who are interested in it. For whatever reason, it just tends to be a guy thing. ;)

As far as more traditional manly activities go, I like to drink beer, shoot stuff, eat steaks, and gawk at attractive women. :P I wouldn't say that most of my interests are male or female-oriented though.

Wow, I just realized I don't do anything manly after going on this post.

I don't:
Shoot guns
Grow facial hair
Lift weights
Enjoy mathematics
Drink black coffee
Do any sports
Plan on getting married
Fix stuff
Write code
Enjoy science fiction
Mow the lawn
Sweat (I pile up on antiperspirant)
Argue about beliefs (at the most I ask questions and discuss stuff)
Make groans when frustrated
Get angry often

AND

My best friend is a girl...
I can cry from instrumental music.
I don't naturally grow chest hair. I have a few blondish fuzzy sprinklez but ya. Oh wait I have a few dark ones in the center lol :?
And I shave with an electric shaver...

I do hide my emotions though :D Well IDK I try to.

I have had the same problem in the past, make sure to hit "preview" before posting images. You should make sure the http address ends in a .jpg or .png or whatever and sometimes useless numbers are added to the end of the address, just delete them.

I don't really have a manly hobby...one that I really care about. I prefer to read and play video games. I do enjoy riding my road bike, but only by myself.

I do feel pressure to hunt, as I have grown up in the South - and my father and brother enjoy it. So as a result, I do own several hunting guns (shotguns and rifles). But I have only been deer hunting once. I did shoot a deer, but I am afraid that I weird-ed out the guy who took me (he is a real guy's guy - narcotics agent, SWAT, rides bulls).

When we went to clean the animal, I just kept exclaiming how warm the animal felt. And that I had never really felt warm meat before. So I spent most of my time inspecting the animal rather than cleaning it. I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that I am some sort of serial killer.

I would really like to buy a motorcycle - but my wife and kids don't really like the idea.

As a boy I would sometimes go hunting and fishing with my father and others. We hunted rabbit, squirrel, quail, and the like. I enjoyed the shooting part, but the skinning and cleaning were more than I cared for. I probably could have gotten used to it with more experience.

I never quite understood the logic behind quail hunting. The dang things are so little that after all that work of hunting and cleaning they are barely a mouthful. Give me fried chicken any day. :)

My dad takes me target shooting in a giant desert wash and am a natural good marksman.
But he has not taken me hunting yet.

If you get the chance to go hunting, I would say do it. I have always had a great deal of fun on hunts...even the really cold, wet ones where we don't end up shooting a single shot. It is nice to be around other people and know that it is perfectly fine to sit there in silence.

I can see where that would be an aspie-friendly form of male bonding - one is expected to remain quiet and still.

I second this. I've gone hunting only a few times in my life, but I find it to be a fun, relaxing experience. People often scoff and say that it's barbaric, but when you compare it to how animals are treated in slaughterhouses, it's actually much more humane.

Have fun on the hunt - I have never been on a big-game hunt like that before - mostly birds (goose, duck, pheasant). I know it has got to be pretty exciting knowing that you are tracking such a big animal.

I did some volunteer work with the Student Conservation Association when I was in high school on Isle Royal (a national park on Lake Superior). There were tons of moose...which were a ton of fun to see when we would paddle across some of the lakes. So that about sums up my experience with any sort of large wildlife.

+1 to Hunting. In fact many hunters are actually strong and genuine conservationists and ecologists.
