I stand corrected. It was Crystal Gayle (the MUCH younger sister of Loretta Lynn).

Marshmallows are okay. Neither here nor there. They're pretty cool right out of the fire.

Did you ever sit around a circle and sing "Kumbaya?"

Possibly when I went to communist camp. I can't remember though.

Do you like the movie Love, Actually?

I don't remember seeing it.

I went to a Trotskyite meeting when I was 17. It turned me off to Communism forever. They would try to "indoctrinate" you.

We used to sing folks songs, Kumbaya, "We Shall Overcome," stuff like that, around the campfire. I used to hate singalongs. I had that stupid cynical skepticism that kids who wanted to be tough had.

Were you ever attracted to a guy with a guitar?

I attended a church group organization which was similar to "Brownies" or Girl Guides, and also went to its summer camp.

I've since learned the organization was started by Russian commies, so I call it my communist club / communist camp.

I had a terrible time at camp because of sensory issues, the change to my routine, and being humiliated for one of my stims. The other girls gave me a mean nick-name and picked on me.

I was dreadfully homesick and hoped I might die in my sleep.

I think it was July, 1978.

I am always attracted to guys with guitars. I love guitar. When I was thirteen I decided I would grow up and marry a man named William who played guitar and spoke Spanish. I'm still looking for him.

Are you attracted to women who play the tambourine?

That would be cool----especially if SHE was cool. If you played a tambourine----I'd be delighted!

I had a mixed time at camp. I was teased, I was assaulted, I had some draconian punishments imposed upon me. I told you about the sexual organs. But I made it fun for myself sometimes. I spend many hours playing tetherball, or hitting rocks with a stick, or reading books.

Did you ever raid the boys' bunks at camp?

I'm sorry about your experience.

I had an old, faded, pale pink plastic tambourine in Kindergarten (bags of adjectives, lol).
It had a crack in the drum-skin part but I liked it anyway.

In Uni I decided to get involved in something. I wanted to be in the marching band because I wouldn't have to interact with anyone, but I could still consider it an extra-curricular on job applications. I couldn't play an instrument so I asked if I could play the triangle. They laughed at me and said no. I asked if I could just carry a flag? They said no. So much for participation.

Hitting rocks sounds fun.

I did not raid the boys' bunk. I don't think there was one. It was a girls only, religious communist camp.

Oxymoron at every level?

Did you enjoy Playboy?

I enjoyed Penthouse more. Playboy was okay. It had good articles sometimes.

Have you gone to a male burlesque place?

My dad collected Playboy. He received one every year from Santa Claus, in his Christmas stocking.

No, I haven't gone to a male burlesque place but I really liked (male) gay bars when I was more extroverted.
(I have a great memory from the song "It's Raining Men")

Have you ever been humiliated in a job interview?

Yep....by the Weather Girls! Very popular song about 1982.

No, that never happened, fortunately.

I hope it hasn't happened to you....

It's Raining Men was by Geri Holloway (2001) -- I had to google. Same song, different artist.

Do you like the Bee Gees?

I like the early Bee Gees better than the Disco Bee Gees.

There are YouTube videos of them as kids. They were professional singers even when very young.

"Jive Talking," or "Massachusetts"?

I don't know Massachuesettes (or how to spell the word, apparently...)
Jive Talking is OK.

My father bought me a Bee Gees album called "Spirits Having Flown" for Valentine's Day when I was about ten. He walked through a snowstorm to pick it up from a record shop because my mother had the car. Dad also gave me a heart-shaped box of chocolates every year on Valentine's Day. I don't like Valentine's Day any more because it makes me sad :(

Yes, I love the Bee Gees though. I thought that the song "Tragedy" was called "Tiger Lilies" and I still call it that.

Do you know the song?

Yep. "Tragedy" was right after the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. It's pretty good.

Did you see "Saturday Night Fever?"

I don't think I saw SNF but I had the album. I preferred Spirits Having Flown, with Tiger Lilies (lol) and Too Much Heaven.

Too Much Heaven gives me crazy synesthesia about that snow storm on Valentine's Day.

Do you like Barry Manilow?

OMG I'm listening to How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees

I feel the humidity, salty smell, synaesthesia, swirls of colours and textures from summertime. WOW -- it's intense.

Sorry for the aside.

He's okay. A little sappy. I did like "Copacabana," though.

Did you like "Welcome Back Kotter?"

"Asides" are cool and creative.
