Oh, I thought you meant they were crusty with dirt, dried sweat, etc. from being unwashed for way too many uses. My brother had some of that kind as a kid
There was also the time my mom was cleaning his room while he was away at camp when he was about twelve, and she found a little bag in a corner that contained a little bit of brown sludge at the bottom and a lot of gas produced by decomposition (we were quite surprised, and relieved, that the bag hadn't burst). When she turned it around, she discovered that it had been a bag of baby carrots. When she showed it to my brother after he got home, his response was "Oh, is that what that was?"
