What is your impression of spoken Middle English?

Very funny LOL....Don't you think it sounds very German?

Old English sounds even more German.

I believe the Norman/French influence eventually took away the "German" aspects of English. This was especially so with the "Great Vowel Shift."

Yes, I suppose to an extent it does. Robot might be a better judge as I'm not totally familiar with the German sound.

Do you wash up the prep dishes while you're cooking or baking?

I think that's a good idea----so you don't get piles of dishes!

Have you ever had a dishwasher?

Do you think it's incredible that you can read something from 1600, and find it almost incomprehensible; yet read something from about 1660, and totally understand it?

I know....I can be a pain in the tuchus.....forgive me, please! LOL

I blame YOU---it's that cake you baked......you probably put some real ambrosiac stuff in it!

Yes, because I really, really dislike sticking my hands in water. It's a sensory thing. I can swim or bathe or shower but I don't like getting my hands wet on their own.

I don't use a dishwasher all the time but if I don't use one I like to wear rubber gloves :(

Yes, it's crazy how language changed so radically. Did you enjoy reading Shakespeare?

I do....but you still need a glossary to really understand it if you're reading it in the original language.

I have some trouble comprehending it when it's performed. I need to have a copy of the play being performed before me.

I believe this is because I lack facility in language. I was never a very good foreign language learner.

If you read something by Milton, say, the need for the glossary lessens considerably.

I found the first few scenes of Shakespeare's plays were always awkward but then I got accustomed to it within a few pages.

Kids today have it much easier with the internet!

I have difficulty comprehending anything being performed in front of me, not because of the language but because I lose focus (likewise with movies). Musicals are the easiest because of the songs' refrains!

Do you remember your 14th birthday? I don't.

I don't, either.

I didn't have a party after my 8th birthday.

I don't even remember my 21st birthday LOL

Do you remember when you turned 21?

Vaguely. I went out for a fancy dinner with my parents and they gave me a gold bracelet. The bracelet disappeared a few years later. One day a tiny sparkle caught my eye in their garden and I was compelled to investigate it (extremely unheard of because of my worm phobia). It was tiny like a glitter of dust. I dug around with a kitchen spoon and discovered my bracelet. It had been buried for probably a year or two :)

Do you remember turning eight? I don't. I remember 7, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 21. The rest is a blur.

I do, somewhat.

What does this song make you think of?

Black sky, something twinkly akin to stars but not quite stars, shards of silver jetting upward, a rolling motion.

Also now that it's over I taste licorice.

^ :o That's very accurate in what's happening during the game when the song plays, theme-wise. 8)

How about this one?

That second song was hot and humid. The colours were entirely different: more of a sunset. Stuffy red and orange with less air movement than the first song. It was sultry and almost made me sweaty. I didn't exactly see a beach but it would be that type of feeling (sand, sunset, fire colours).

I taste salt, like perspiration or salt water.

It made me feel clammy when it ended. The first song was much more refreshing.
