Seriously....maybe you could write a Greek-like tragedy play.

You should probably study Greek philosophy more.

I prefer Plato/Socrates, myself, over Aristotle. Plato believed in virtue; whereas Aristotle believed more in practicality.

But aren't you married and have a career you enjoy? The other 57 year old said he never even got a girlfriend despite his best efforts and only manages to scrape by with povery level income.

I don’t know why you keep comparing yourself to others, but you need to live your life and follow your dreams. At this point you’re just commiting yourself to failure instead of success.

Everyone else just seems to walk through life without any trouble while I always get walls and traps no matter what I do. My dreams feel unreachable and success feels impossible for me.

No one here is waking through life without trouble. No one. We all have trouble. Most of us just deal with it, get help if we can, and do whatever we can to move on. Success is going to feel impossible until you succeed, but you absolutely will not succeed if you don’t at least keep trying. That’s life.

But it looks like some do try and success still eludes them. If that's what my story is going to be like, I feel like my life is just a waste.

Marknis -I am offering again if you need someone to talk to I can call you or Skype or something.

The visit to my mom’s turned out to be good. I was panicking, crying and experienced Shutdowns/ debilitating meltdowns for 2 day’s fr nothing. Thank goodness I managed to work through it.. in my head. My kids were so content and happy. I am glad I did not deprive them in the end.

Sounds like the guy I know. Except he didn't make any efforts. He knew he'd be able to survive and manage with low paying undemanding work. No wife, no gf, no actual friends. But he's happy for the most part.

Then there's the other guy I know who is also around 57 who broke his neck in a trampoline accident when he was 17. He's spent the last 40 years as a C5 quadriplegic. He's super thankful he can get by without a respirator.

Then there are successful able bodied guys with women and friends in their life who commit suicide.

It's all a matter of perspective I suppose.

I've spent the entire afternoon cleaning my computer with the fix me stick. That and the fact that I was working on my art. I almost bought a new computer today. I bought the fix me stick instead when I was out with Dean and Barb. It was nice to spend an hour and a half with my two closest friends.

I also spent an hour at Tim Horton's by myself this evening. Dean was in the hospital getting some precautionary tests done and Barb wanted to stay home. I was surrounded mostly by younger people. Being around younger people gives me hope for the future. They're not as grumpy and narrow minded as a lot of the old folks.

Unfolding can be painful when you've been stuck in one place for too long.
I think there's a lesson in that for us all.
