I had a disturbing experience last night. Around 2am the fire alarm went off so I groaned and left the building. There was a crowd of angry people waiting outside, but there were way fewer people outside than live in the building. When I got back inside I saw that my roommate, upon hearing the alarm, had put on his headphones and gone back to sleep. I expect most of the people in the building did that. So if there was an actual fire, most people here would die. It's nice to know we go to all the trouble of having fire alarms and evacuation routes only to have people ignore them and die of stupidity.
