[quote="Raleigh"]Belated hello.
I was reading a news story about a woman with brain cancer who lived for 10 years, then died, then her son died of brain cancer shortly after.
Really uplifting stuff. [/quote/]
The news outlets make a point of mainly sharing the saddest stories
They also keep reporting to a minimum on things that are actually important or report one-sided and leave important info out idk why. shock value and hopelessness maybe Stories about things ppl can actually change or do something about they keep to a minimum
Brain cancer runs in my mom’s family.
My mom is a doctor so she knows how all this works.
Her sister died of it then my mom got it but she is super into health nutrition etc because she is also a nutritionist
She participated in some study where they used some Amazonian bark supplement fr brain tumours Along with all her other holistic stuff Within a year or so when she went back fr her MRI in London the tumour had a hard casing /shell formed around it.
The dr was all ‘wow! This makes it easier to extract n it’s not as dangerous!’ They extracted it. It was at a base of nerves so there was inevitable damage (eg couldn’t use /feel one side of her body, one eye couldn’t blink n needed to be forcefully shut with tape , vertigo , brief paralysis etc) but thanks to the brain’s awesome capability fr neuroplasticity n the other stuff she was doing (holistic stuff) a lot of it went away. The brain learned to cope
Now a lot of stuff is back to normal n she can function fine Now she is about to complete her ultrasound course so she can work
So just to offset the depressing stuff I shared that

It did make her more prone to anger/depression esp right after the surgery because the process is humiliating n dehumanizing Eg drs don’t tell of the side effects or don’t believe you or support u fr it everything is an uphill battle etc
But that has more to do with how messed up the system is right now
Anyway life is more n more depressing
The only ppl who don’t cry about this world are psychopaths who thrive off the instability

I’m sorry fr being such a smart aleck/unemotional sounding person I don’t mean to invalidate ur pain I just don’t like hearing u are depressed Everything is messed up so it makes sense
My XH told me yesterday of a family he n his friend are trying to help n they have 2 disabled kids they can’t speak English etc no money (minimum wage — but it doesn’t pay fr much as they spend whatever they can on hospital treatments)
N I was so mad thinking ‘why do all the immoral evil ppl like lawyers who purposely rig things to make Even MORE $$ —even though they are already rich - N basic things are denied in life to many ppl?’
I think a week’s pay check of my old lawyer was more than sufficient fr a few months of this family’s bills He got 200 dollars just to reply one sentence to an email
