I don't get why people on Reddit automatically hate you for putting /s at the end of a post to show that you were being sarcastic and say things like "anyone can see you were being sarcastic", but if you don't put /s at the end of a post they think you 100% meant what you said, and then automatically hate you when you tell them you were being sarcastic.

They also hate you for using an emoji in a post for practically the same reasons. Emojis are supposed to help others to understand what you're feeling so they don't misinterpret the message. I can understand if you put at least three of the same emojis at the end of a sentence, which seems to happen every time I look at the comments of a cute cat video on YouTube.

I don't get why people use Reddit and then complain about it?

That's a serious question.
No offence to lostonearth or League_Girl who mention it a lot.

I've never used it so I don't understand.
What's the appeal?

It sounds awful from what you've both described.

There are interesting things on it and subs on it I like. Like how people can come here but not always like users here so them to complain about how users act here in no different than doing it about reddit. If I were to leave every forum because I didn't like someone on it, I wouldn't be able to use the internet at all. That is what the ignore function is for.

This part is universal for the internet, this happens on all places than on Reddit. Also people like to read emojis as being used in passive aggressive ways like someone insults another user but uses a friendly emoji to make it look like they are not really insulting you. People can see through it but that also means people start seeing what they want to see and think every user is doing it and thinks if you used an emoji, you must have been trying to insult them. Talk about paranoia.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
People here aren't always happy either.
I know people come here because of the autism content, though.
It's hard to find elsewhere so it's like a niche community.
We don't have many other choices.

I don't know enough about Reddit to know how it works.
I don't even know what a sub is.
I assume it's mostly NT but is there autism content on it?
I was just curious what its redeeming qualities are.

A sub is a forum on reddit and there are plenty of autism forums on it. Ther are also silly subs too like crappydesign or a**hole design and there are satrical subs and right wing subs. There are even subs poking fun at the left and at the right. It depends on where you go on it.

Also be aware that when you post an opinion in a sub, you may be downvoted for it but post that same opinion in a different sub, you get upvoted for it. That is because reddit subs are full of echo chambers and hive minds. And it's anonymous site so people create many accounts at they want if they don't want it tied to their original account. You can't create different usernames here for politics and one for your autism life, and the other for posting silly and random things here. You can on other websites like Reddit and Twitter.

Wow thanks for explaining!!

So a sub is like a subforum or category, then?

That would suck having people using so many random names. I’d feel paranoid about who I’m talking to.

The up and downvote thing wouldn’t bother me as much as all the names.

Thanks again.

I don’t get much of anything.

Maybe the laser isn't doing its job properly?

Its like a piece of dirt on one of those old fashioned vinyl records. Causes the needle to jump.

On a CD, or DVD, the 'needle' is the laser beam.

Fun fact: if your CD skips two thirds the way through the album DONT look for the offending speck of dust to be at two thirds the way to the center of the CD (where it would be if it were a vinyl LP with both sides of the album on one side).

Look for it at ONE third the of the way to the center of the disk. Thats because CDs and DVDs go from center outward. The opposite of vinyl records which go from the outside inward (ie the laser of the digital disks work in a similar way to how the tone arm and stylus work on the grooves of analog disk, but go the opposite way- out to in- not in to out like how us oldsters know old fashioned records to go).

I've fixed scratched DVDs with toothpaste. ^
Sometimes the DVD player can't be salvaged though.

I don't get the monarchy.

Why a perfect WiiU disc won't play on my WiiU but other WiiU discs do. Same with GameCube, why won't Mario Party 5 work on it because system won't spin disc but other games will spin in it but MP5 works in my Wii.

I don't get how to know when you're being gaslit.
I guess that's the whole point of gaslighting.

And a special FU to that person for not making it clear.

I don't get why people are unable to give advice without being snotty about it.
