My dentist is rubbish.

I need a new dentist. But there are no dentists. Not on the NHS anyway.

I was quoted £300 for a filling in January. Still haven't had it done.

No, but I'm very careful when eating on that side. I told my MP's representative about the high charges, but I've heard nothing back. It's £60 for a checkup, which generally takes under 2 minutes.

That's what I'm talking about. Last time I went in he barely looked in my mouth and wouldn't even do a scale and polish. He said I had to pay a hygienist £80 for that. It used to be a part of the routine check-up.

I've got a tooth with a filling that's giving me some gyp but he said if he took the filling out the tooth would probably disintegrate and I'd need a crown on it. £300.

I was quoted £700 for a crown.

I've occasionally thought about just giving up and going in for a full set of implants, but I suspect that'd be around £30,000 or maybe even more. I think you also have to have a general anaesthetic, which would worry me a fair bit.

Yeah I don't like the idea of general anaesthetic either

That doesn't sound right, unless it was private.

A crown is a 'Band 3' treatment which is £326 on the NHS. Should be standard across England.

I'm missing 2 teeth (luckily they're not at the front so no too noticeable) and I can't afford to have bridges put in, let alone implants.

I had a general anaesthetic once. It's not so bad. You just go somewhere else for a bit.

Yes, it's private. I can't get onto their NHS list.

Well damn. I thought £300 was bad enough.
