Some sort of raptor with a nest high up in some solitary craggy rock.

A turtle of course! Would also like to be able to enjoy life as a canine (especially wolf or dog), and would like to know what it's like to have a tail to wag! Would also like to know what it's like to be an octopus and communicate with color.

Cat, so I could get out of unhappy scenarios

Do you feel, that some autistic persons fell through the cracks, in that they were diagnosed late in life or misdiagnosed altogether?

Yes, many people are never diagnosed at all. My grandfather was almost certainly autistic but this was never assessed in his lifetime. He left the family, became reclusive and eventually committed suicide (aged 72), because of his inability to deal with social interaction. I think of the millions of people throughout history who struggled with autism before the term was even known and this makes me very sad. Myself, I wasn't assessed until this year even though signs were present from aged 2 onward. Having support at a younger age would have changed my life dramatically.

It's partly our job to spread awareness so that these tragedies won't happen again.

^I'm so sorry to hear that. I also think the same as Isabella, right now there must be so many undiagnosed people, i hope that bit by bit it will become more well known and our lives will get easier.

Do you considered yourself childlike?

I'm defined by contradictions:

reading classic literature vs. watching The Flintstones with my blanket
knitting old-fashioned garments while listening to classic rock
being sheltered emotionally while being a romantic
having extreme verbal mutism but writing excessively on WP
having exemplary coping skills for trauma, while feeling that I'm an adolescent at best

I could extend the list forever with opposites!

Yes, I feel like I'm 14. My emotional development halted after my friendship with CDW, which ended in 1982.
I've been reclaiming myself for the past two years, but it's a long process.

Well, when I was 3 my doctor at the time clearly stated, that I was showing classic autism signs, but my mother simply dismissed it and thought rather it was simply a phase and something that would disappear over time. That never happened, as many unpleasant realities occurred and continued to happen up until the point I was officially diagnosed in 2004.These days, I do my best to make up for all of that crap and lost chances, resources, opportunities, etc.

Also, I'm childlike as well

Do you often mask your unpleasantness in social scenarios, in others hide the fact, you might be sad.?

@Isabella: I totally think the same about being contradictory. I read somewhere "adulthood so far had just been me reclaiming my pre-teen interests but now with less internalized shame" and it just sums it up perfectly!

I try to hide my unpleasant feelings but i have a clear line and if you cross it i just.. don't bother to hide it.

Do you remember that last perfect day before it all came to an end? :(

First: Nearly always, because of alexithymia (I can seldom identify my feelings) and because of social pressures to conform.
Removing my proverbial mask has only been possible on WP, and with two or three "real" people in my life.

Second: April 29, 2002.

I have a poker-face, so I don't have to hide anything, comes naturally.

+10 ^

Someone recently tried to debase one of my friendships, and my line was fully cross'd.
