I don’t have difficulty talking in real life except I talk much less than most people who blabber mindlessly. And yes I had an issue with selective mutism growing up which I have nearly gotten over. I can make small talk at most when my mind is off.

I however have trouble staying relevant to the topic.

Sometimes, I get off the topic. Sometimes, I have word finding difficulties. Sometimes, I dont take into account my audience.

I've dealt with mutism and alexithymia all my life, and especially post-trauma. It's relatively easy for me to write my feelings but expressing them verbally is very difficult.

I don't know of any sheep people, neither in real life nor on WP. I only know people who have good friends.

Do you remember all your teachers' names from Primary school? (And, without naming, who was your favourite?)

I remember a couple from my private school in Queens. Not most, though.

I do pretty well in social situations, people find me to come over as calm, assertive and strong (their words), but that is because I have a poker-face probably. Inside, I am not like that. Can always make people laugh. Can't speak in front of an audience though.

@Isabella, Almost everyone on WP and in real life are sheep. Wolves are rare. Think you don't know what I mean by sheep. Nothing against sheep, I am just happy to not be one.

I remember all of them up to but not including secondary school, as well as their birthdates and the 'colour' associated with their names or personalities (synaesthesia).

My favourite teacher was Mrs. Delves when I was nine. She let me do independent reading studies on a yellow carpet, away from the other kids. I read "The Gift of the Magi" and a story called "The Monkey's Paw". I also did a book talk in a shopping plaza -- which I can't believe in retrospect.

No, I'm very honest, naive and trusting. I tend to overshare and tell people too much truth.
Some people exploit my innocence. As a result I've learned to say 'less' but I don't lie.

Do you ever spend an entire day in your pyjamas?

I havent spent much time in my pyjamas at all over the past 40 years or so.

Occasionally, in winter, I dress a little warmer in bed.

Kort,
I love the feeling of flannel to touch, but I can't sleep on flannel sheets because they get hard after a while. The sensation gets annoying and I find it harder to roll around on flannel if my nightgown has an equal texture.

I do like flannel tops though, since the flannel is on the outside only and not against my skin.

I pretty much only wear cotton or pure silk against my skin. I can't do wool (*shudders*), linen, weaves or even satin. Lace is fine but it has to be silk or cotton.

Also, I prefer apples to oranges but they have to be cut in tiny pieces lest there be monsters inside.

LLW,
Apple! Always!

Do you guys think autism was equally present through history as compared to now (albeit undiagnosed)?

Microsoft or windows is a much superior operating system because most companies develop for it. Apple is mostly for people who have an attitude that they feel higher than others, like the company itself likes to advertise as a superior, artistic product when in reality, it is just an overpriced, inferior product which is almost impossible to modify. With a normal PC, you can just build it yourself, change components easily, but with MAC, this is just hardly possible.

I don't have a preference for apples nor oranges, both are tasty.

Autism has always been present.

I feel like it has always been present...but the criteria for diagnosis has changed considerably, thereby increasing its apparent incidence, especially within those who are fully verbal.

Do you feel autism is underdiagnosed in women_

Yes, shamefully, it is under-diagnosed among women. Often, women get diagnosed with borderline or even bi-polar disorder instead of autism because they have learned to mask their social difficulties better than males. This leads to many problems in their adult lives. Have helped quite a few females seek a re-evaluation from a better psychiatrist who then diagnosed them with ASD which made them very happy.

Yes i am not diagnosed but they slap a ton of other diagnoses on me.

My daughter who is only partially verbal got her diagnosis recently but the therapists finally diagnosed her because of her ADHD issues. I have the passive kinda ADHD so was never diagnosed.
