(Thinks): well, it's a service I use probably at least 5 hours a day, every day, so it's still not too bad a deal, I'd say (£1.77 per day).

No, I get £598 State Pension every four weeks from the DWP, plus a slightly larger sum from an occupational pension.

Can't even claim Winter Fuel Allowance!

Mmmm....interesting, but it sounds to me as if it'll still be means tested, but with a higher threshold (how high?). Starmer's only doing it because of the hostile criticism, not because he believes in it.

What worries me is that if he gets away with it, it could set the stage for means testing of the bus pass. That's a real biggie for me, saves me over £1000 a year on buses and maybe £100-£200 on trams and trains. Withdrawal of that'd be an absolute killer.

Saw an advert/ billboard today saying "Why take the bus when you can drive it" , I thought it was about crime but it was a recruitment drive for bus drivers with a starting salary of £28k
