I used to jam with a neighbour who lived a couple of doors down from here, until one day when he got lung cancer and went to live with his sister miles away. No forwarding address or contact details, just suddenly gone. He was a smoker and he'd already lost a leg. He was very brave about not being able to walk. Everybody seems to get cancer in Arkansas.

I can't remember how he lost it. I vaguely remember it was an accident but I don't really know.

It might have been. My memory has holes in it, and that's one of them.
