I'm back from my trip.

On Wednesday we got up early and drove to the city for my eye checkup. I was exhausted from the showings and lack of sleep, and the eye drop part went about as well as you'd expect. They tried for half an hour, and in the end, only one eye got dilated. I felt so guilty. I was worried that they would think I had a meltdown just to get out of it. Afterwards, we got to my aunt and uncles', and crashed there. The day after, we went to the bookstore and I got some books. The day after that, I wrote nine pages of Book 2 and then we drove to the hotel and then went to the wedding. I only stayed for an hour. Then this morning we got up and came home an hour ago.

I don't frequent the L&D forum, so I'll just leave this here.

When someone does a heroic sacrifice to save the one they love, and that someone is a death seeker, is it really heroic?

It's the first time I've heard this. If it's good enough for you , it's good enough for me.

I've drunk bleach when I was a kid - it burns.

my mom had bleach in a drinking cup. my sister thought it was water. she's fine. otoh, i know a fellow who tried to suicide by drinking bleach. that effort ruined his vocal cords. he talked electronically. he was just the sweetest patient helper as a coworker.

I'm not sure it's within any biological imperative to seek death. Even despondent people have self-preservation instincts. Risk is indifferent to personal intentions.

A neighbor when I was a kid had a cardboard captain Kirk (Shatner of course) on their porch all the time.

I took all of last week to recuperate from my stay in the hospital. That's probably why you didn't see much of me here on WP. It was nice at the hospital. I really like the nurses there. I've been working around my apartment most of the afternoon. It helps me to keep my mind off things.
