I'll be having my dinner around 4 from now on. I don't want to be going for a walk at 6 in the evening.

It sounds like your landleech needs a camera to catch the people who are breaking the rules, and the ability to follow through with punishments for folks who insist on doing so. I guess that makes me pro-bin cam.

I've heard the UK takes TV taxes pretty seriously, but I guess that's why the BBC is so much better funded than CBC or PBS.

I wouldn't mind so much if these authorities took the trouble to get it right before they started with their threats.

My preferred solution to the global warming / recycling thing is to offer rewards to people who keep to the rules. Maybe cash for people who don't drive. I'd also like the rules to be simple. But with the USA gov not giving a damn about global warning, it probably doesn't matter much what the UK does.

The UK gov, even Starmer's lot, is currently in favour of getting shut of the TV license when the existing charter expires. They'll probably figure out something even worse. I've got mixed views about the BBC. I think it's quite wrong of them to air their content for free and then send intimidating letters to anybody who hasn't got a license - even people who don't watch live BBC programmes. Even watching ITV live makes you liable for a BBC license. My solution is for them to switch to a subscription model like Sky has, where the programmes are aired in encrypted form and you can't decrypt them without paying. That way, if you can't afford a license but want live television, you can stick to the commercial stations.

How come we have to pay (for a service) in an instant, but if we need a refund it takes weeks, if not months, to get it?

There are two flies living in my living-room that are madly in love because they won't stop breeding. I've even seen them doing it on the door frame. They never seem to sleep, they just enjoy flying around and landing on your skin every few seconds. I keep telling them that I ain't dead but they won't listen.

My educated guess is that it's because governments love business more than they love people.

I wish our flies would crash, but they never do. I have to help them to get to Fly Heaven. Walmart does a good swatter and it's so cheap that even I see it as good value for money. I love using it.

I can't bring myself to kill flies though. I hate killing anything.

Have you considered a fly swatter?

I like to usher mine out of the window

They respond well to expletives in my experience

I don't like to kill them either

I consider myself a Buddhist in that respect
