Usually I hate killing animals, but when it comes to flies I'm like Elmer McFudd is with bunny rabbits. It's their own fault, they pushed me too far (the flies that is, the rabbits have got more sense so far). I think everybody's got their own violence threshold.

How long does a fly last anyway

If I leave one flying around in my kitchen then it just disappears after a while

I think it depends how much food they find. They don't need much food either. Your kitchen must be cleaner than mine. There's always traces of toast crumbs and butter here.

So have I, but I use mine very sparingly. Everybody else gets through a roll a day.

Is it kinder to starve flies to death by mopping up all their food, or to just top them with one quick smack from the swatter?

I just watched what I think was a goshawk fly out of the woods and grab a pigeon out of the air and take it down.

It was brutal. And beautiful.

Brutaful?

2 to 4 weeks? How's anybody going to keep their home spotless for that long? Especially if you've got a cat. There must be something else going on to kill them in BB's place, kitchen roll or not. Maybe there's a frog hiding under the bed.

Maybe they come and go, with BB's place only being part of their territory?

The test of that would be to look for dead flies in the house. No bodies means they've buggered off or something/somebody ate them, bodies means they've died in the house without getting eaten.

I have a project I want to start, documenting every movie I've seen since I was 6 years old. I used to watch a lot of movies in my youth but now it's less than 10 a year. Maybe this will entice me to revisit some of the classics

I just got called an old man by a prepubescent kid.
My first thought after that was
"Kids today have no respect"
My immediate thought after that was
"Holy crap I'm turning into my dad"
