I was about to head out for a beer but no one replied and considering this I decided to stay in.

I'm submitting the following inquiry, basically, I'm wondering here on this thread have ever moved/relocated to a new place on your own? As of late I have been given serious consideration to moving not only to another city but, to another territory/state which, I'm not completely familiar with.Where I currently live, there is not as my resources & services available to autistic persons from young children to adults. As well, I don't wish to reside where I'm at for the rest of my life if this makes sense? Anyways, many thanks for any/all responses.

I don't know how much this will help, Kazan, but I moved across the country - from New York State to Oregon - and later on I moved from Oregon to Europe. Then back to the US East Coast a few years later. The reason I'm not sure it will help a lot is that I did it as part of changing jobs - I got the job in the new place first, then moved. And that was thirty years ago (I came back to the States 20+ years ago, and stayed put) - so I don't know if that kind of job change is easier or harder these days. I know there's a lot more remote interviewing technology but I don't know what the job markets are like.

Optimistic bottom line, though, yes it's doable, I went to and from Europe on my own, with three cats, even. (And all my furniture! Which wasn't much, but helped me feel at home there.)

i moved from the us east to the midwest. my parents helped me move my things in, but i knew no one in the new city. i eventually made a few good friends, but not before being taken advantage of by a conman of a fiance who capitalized on my loneliness. i had trouble in jobs because of my autism and after 12 years came home to live with my parents. i slowly rebuilt my life, learned small talk, learned to catch myself staring before making people obviously uncomfortable, and even got married to a great guy. some things like choice of doctors and frequency and convenience of cultural events were better in the big city. here, i have family and less traffic (i'm not a great driver).

If I could bring who I am on the inside and show it on the outside....wait a minute. That's what I've been doing for the past two and a half years.

That's dependent upon whether your highly superstitious or prone to such.

No, but Garfield the Cat would. He hates Monday, especially if it is in February.

I guess I've partly been lurking to see if Dragnet & Raleigh are lurking.

That and I seriously cannot sleep. How can this be even worse when I drink less caffeine?

^ You have given yourself plenty of time to plan and execute your move, Mr Kazans.

It should go nice and smooth for you.

Not sure if I will be moving myself at some point - I am walking a financial tight rope at present and only time will tell.

Off to get a roast dinner with my lovely neighbour now. To pudding or to not pudding? :?
