Why is there so much hate for gypsies?

Not understanding the humor...

The airbrushed dye job is acceptable but the real human being is somehow offensive? Honestly. I don't get it. Is it because the boy looks like he might be an Aspie? Where was that thread... on 'typical' aspie facial traits. Big forehead, big skull, wide set eyes... Or is the natural orange shade somehow less desireable than the bottle variety?

You're looking too deeply into it. It's basically saying that a hot woman who happens to have ginger hair is a redhead, anyone plain looking is just "ginger" because ginger as an adjective for a person is often used as insult. It's simple really.

I dunno... for an insult that literally gets people killed I'm still not sure the humor or light hearted banter is warranted. And now I have no clue if I'm a redhead or a ginger. Lovely.

If you are sexy, redhead
if not, ginger

kidding, the phrases are interchangeable. I don't see the need to get defensive, people get killed over all sorts of stupid s**t, hair colour being one of the stranger ones.

I really don't think anybody has been killed because of the colour of their hair.

Stabbed is close enough for me.

I doubt that was really because of ginger hair. Some areas of England are just a bit rough, and stabbings occasionally happen, especially when alcohol is involved. It was probably just two men looking for a reason to pick on someone and it got out of hand. I've never known of anyone who actually has any problems with someone just because they have ginger hair.

I have nothing against the Roma; it's the chavs who make trouble for others and then claim discrimination for being 'gypsies' when they get caught. They seem to think that just claiming to be a 'gypsy' makes them one.

We have people here in the states who cause the same kinds of trouble, and then claim discrimination for being Native Americans ... blond-haired, blue-eyed Native Americans who seem to think that just claiming to be a Native American makes them one..

It wouldn't surprise me to hear of an NT troublemaker who assaults someone, and then claims to be discriminated against for being an Aspie, as if a self-diagnosis as an Aspie makes them one.

These are the people that give bad reputations to gypsies, Native Americans, Aspies, and others.

Just in case somebody should think negatively of gypsies, play the following song and think otherwise.

My Mum used to tell me that as a child, people in her village would warn of the gypsies approach. She told me that when sighted, someone would literally run through the village shouting for all to hear "There are gypsies coming ! ! Hide your valuables and your children ! !"
It was thought that the gypsies would grab small children and raise them as their own. This quaintness dates all the way back to the 1930's.
