I like to think of myself as a DUKE fan since before I was born. Though it happened when I found a duke hat somewhere.

Lately we have been having incredible thunderstorms in the afternoons. I am terrified of lightning, and the storm we had last Sunday had me hiding in my closet.

A little trivia: Florida is the lightning capital of the U.S., and leads the nation in deaths caused by lightning. Only South and Central America, tropical Africa and Asia tend to have more lightning than Florida. Rwanda in Africa is generally considered to be the lightning capital of the world.

Tomorrow's forecast for my area shows a high of 94 F (34 C), which is several degrees cooler than it has been. The humidity is supposed to be 65%. It also shows damaging winds, large hail, and chance of tornadoes in the red shaded areas (the city I currently live in is located in that part of Florida).

The first tropical storm of the 2011 hurricane season, Tropical Storm Arlene, has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a very active year, with as many as 18 storms for the coming season, including 10 hurricanes.

I'm a weather/storm fanatic.

I stood outside for about 2 hours filming a severe thunderstorm appraching last week. Twas beautiful! Turn volume up to hear the continuous distant rumblings and boomings as the storm builds to the west.

The BBC predicts a max temp of 20 today. Cloud will develop and lead to scattered mostly light showers late morning onwards, although some places could miss them and stay dry and with occasional sunshine generally.

I've only just woken up, so I don't know what happened this morning, but the current temp is 18.3, the humidity has dropped to 65%, and the birds tell me it is sunny with some white cloud.
