Dear Rabbitears, So the jaws are about a foot and a half long? And it had teeth? And did it swim awfully fast?
I'm hearing the theme from 'Jaws' right now....
Can you imagine seeing that head rise slowly from the water, about thirty feet away from where you float, in your rowboat?

I think they were about a foot and a half long, something like that anyway. It had lots of relatively small, sharp, pointed teeth, perfect for catching fish. It would have been a powerful and fast swimmer, and it's speed was only surpassed by it's phenomenal agility within the water, no modern animal can replicate the way plesiosaurs swam, it was quite unique and highly efficient. Turtles and penguins get close, but it's not quite the same still as turtles power themselves with the front flippers and just use the back for steering, but plesiosaurs had the means to use all four flippers for power and for steering.

If I saw a Hauffiosarus (or any plesiosaur) 30 feet away from a boat I was sat in, I'd probably instantly dive into the water and swim up to it with the biggest grin you'll ever see. Might not last long though, but at least I'd die happy. :P

To rabbitears - I'm also glad that you've bought most of the things that you wanted to. 8)

Me too or France or Sweden or....anywhere else but here. Seems like there are more successful meetups in Europe than there are here in the US.
