***reads thread title***

***raises hand***

Yeah they were talking in the break room Monday about the closing ceremony and where was it last time and next time it will be in Tokyo and I was all like -_-meh-_-

If it didn't keep popping into my facebook feed, youtube ads and iontelevision commercials I wouldn't even know the Olympics had been happening in Rio earlier this month.

I was very mildly interested the year the Winter Olympics were held in British Columbia, but that was it. Instead of different countries having becoming more friendly with each other it just seems to increase the hate even more. The pressure to win is highly abusive, if you get a silver medal it's like why didn't you get a gold medal, you're a failure to yourself and your country.

Sports are boring, they suck, and they are extremely overrated. And it makes no sense at all in this society where most people are fat and sedentary. People who are creative and artistic get barely even any praise but ooo, some guy who stands in a field doing nothing all day is getting paid millions.

I guess I should be glad I was born female because if females aren't into sports that's fine. We're just expected to spend our lives being at least thirty pounds underweight and looking like we're still 18.

part of it is that people vicariously enjoy carefree youthful vigor when watching these model specimens strut their stuff on the field of competition, everybody else pictures themselves [walter mitty-style] doing the same thing, at some level.

I'm not interested either. But not because I don't like sports - I like sports well enough in of themselves - but I find the commentary and televising people around this Olympics too embarrassing to watch. They practically worship these people. It's 10 minutes of sport, 30 minutes of commentators and other talking heads gushing about how wonderful the athletes are, or of the athletes themselves posing for cameras and taking laps of honour. If it was just spots I might be interested, but I cannot deal with all the emotionality.

I have no interest in any kind of sports. Not even boxing. (Hint hint)

Not because I'm clumsy or 'cannot play' (which is untrue, I'm fit and can play), and not because I could barely grasp the games and it's community (this is true, I have no sort of awareness).
Simply because I have no interest in and on it. :|
