How come the "English" cricket team is not the "British" cricket team ? Its not because its exclusively English players, because they have had more than their share of South Africans in it.

The English seem to me to like distinguishing themselves as "English" when its them, but take credit as "British" when its the Scots, Welsh, Irish in focus. :?

My other side is Scots.

Yes,we've noticed that.To be fair,I suppose it works both ways as we prefer it when the tennis player Andy Murray for example is called Scottish rather than British.Of course in
England I think he's called Scottish mostly when he loses !

It's true that while Britain is split into 4 nations for sporting purposes, any Scots who like cricket probably do feel an affinity with the England cricket team ( we empathise with underdogs) although Scotland now has its own little cricket team, who'll be playing Australia in the World Cup. At least they can't do any worse than England did against you !

I wouldn't be surprised if Scotland do better than England in the World Cup, given our recent performance.
