did you find that stuff i wrote/linked to about oxytocin interesting? do you think i should i post on the forum about it? doesn't seem to be that well known on wrong planet. i wouldn't really be comfortable posting about it as a potential treatment for AS symptoms(since i don't want to unrealistically get peoples hopes up and it does raise unsettling issues about modifying our aspieness).

but i'm interested in oxytocin specifically in that it's said to be more powerful/enjoyable than dopamine(the pleasure hormone) and also our lust hormones like testosterone. it changed my perspective on friendship and aspergers and love and made me more positive about socializing.

(i know this question is too serious for this lighthearted thread, but you said we could ask you anything and i respect your opinions.)

Is oxytocin the "cuddle hormone"? I know when I am touching or being intimate with my SO then I feel good. We will often just hold each other for long periods of time to experience such feelings and to converse.

yeah, it's also called the trust and bonding hormone and helps read body language. they've found out that aspies tend to have lower levels of oxytocin. that might explain why we have trouble making friends. or maybe it's that we can't friends and that leads to lower oxytocin levels. either way, it's interesting. google "aspergers and oxytocin" and there's some cool articles.

Starbuline: I'm not a little chap. My dieting has gone off the boil a bit for the past few months. The huge blob that is my stomach has been growing and growing and growing. I can feel myself becoming less mobile than I was. What can I do about it? I can exercise, I can eat better. I'm an ugly git, no mistake, but you can work with your body. You might think your body is ugly, but it is not. If anything, I find waif-like bodies extremely unattractive - who would want to sleep with that? Not I. I look at waifs and I think to myself: "get a decent meal or two down you". This is what it's all about - we, as people, are all different. Eat well, keep yourself fit and focus on what you like doing.

I have to cut down on the fatty foods and the booze again. Yesterday, I went to a neighbouring town and bought a coat worth about £155 (about $310) that doesn't even fit me yet. But, given time, that waterproof coat will fit me like a glove. Find an objective, see about how you can achieve it and go for it. It's the only way. Keep yourself healthy, don't be too harsh on yourself and do take care. :)

Of course, cans keep shelf life really well!

Not unless you move to England and bellyflop onto the top of a routemaster.

What books are your favourites?

What are your favourite scientific fields?

I do not need to. I was never offended by it. It just made me realise I had zero respect for the guy.
oooh, I love lots of books! Fiction, Non fiction, you name it! Mysteries, outer space, weather, harry potter.

Astrophysics - but i'm best at human biology.

Going on from that.....

I want to ask not actual questions, but rather opinions of authors and/or series.

Terry Pratchett?

Frank Herbert and Dune?

Ian Fleming? (I can understand a no. He was a bit of a misogynist)

Stephen King and The Dark Tower series?

Douglas Adams?

Eric Blair? (If you dunno who he is, he wrote about a farm, and a big brother....and wrote under a nom de plume with the initials G.O)

Anthony Burgess and A Clockwork Orange?

JRR Tolkien?

Mari Puzo and The Godfather?

Ben Elton?

Koji Suzuki?

Hale_Bopp..I've gained 15 lbs over the past six weeks, due to the excess of Christmas food and candy. I'm currently at 200 lbs. I want to get my weight down to 165 lbs. I ask you, and anybody else who's willing to help, how I can motivate myself to lose weight. I also ask if 165 lbs is too small for my frame. I'm 5ft 4 and I have a large frame. You can see my picture at the very begining of the thread that's titled, "Post a Picture of the Real You".

I love moggies too. They are the greatest cats. I especially love Siamese mixes, like Tabby (Lynx) points.
