You can cuddle a cat in a more total way than a dog.

You can sleep with a cat in your bed comfortably; a large dog (St Bernard?) is a bit of a problem.

Cats don't charge at visitors who come on to your property;

Cats are cats first and human companions second. Dogs are the opposite (often);

Cats are very comforting (so are dogs).

Cats form strong emotional bonds (so do dogs).

Cats seem to relate to us in some kind of intuitive way. Go figure.

I wonder if the vet didn't know about the rubber bands around the ears trick.

What's that "trick" about, then----how do you do it, and what is it's purpose?

Also, I saw that video that you're talking about, on TV. It was very cool to see that cat save that little boy!!

tying the cat's ears together with rubber band incites a kneeling reflex, it makes the cat go into a crouch which facilitates examination by the vet.

which would you rather have- a cat that barked, or a dog that purred?

Cat which barks would be better. It would still have sweet appearance of a cat. Dog which purrs would be illogical. Purring does not fit to dogs. It fits to cats, but barking also does not fit to cats. But cats are often smaller, nicer, cuter, sweeter than dogs.

Animals are really like people in a lot of ways except they are expected to understand our language and way of life while we don't bother trying to understand or respect theirs.

My cats are my family. They take care of me in ways nobody would believe. I talk to them as I would to a human, the only thing I have to watch out is that they can't understand the difference between fact and fiction. So, if I start imagining some scenario like moving abroad with them or someone coming to visit us, they start stressing out because they think it's really happening. I always think cats are l like a six year old child and dogs like a three year old.

I love cats.
They are qute and relaxing to be around.
I like the purring and fur.
Also ear hair and sandpaper tongue.
Let's not forget the beautiful eyes.
