Wild baby rats are most likely removed from the nest if they are ill, rat mothers can usually sense when one of her brood is sick or going to die, sorry to be telling you that :(

Awww, rats are smart you know. I had a friend who had one and it nuzzled and sat on my lap, it was a suprisingly affectionate rodent. Normally I'm afraid of rats but this one was an exception, so since that incident my views have changed on rats...generally speaking. I don't know what wild rats are like. I would go ask a pet place what to do with it and yes they do also do checkups on rodents in some vet places.

So how's it doing, tinky?

I love rodents. I wish I had a rat, but my mother doesn't like them at all.

I'd have a rat, if I was living in a house. :O)

second this,am dont know how managed to miss seeing this thread the first time around.
it is possible to keep wild rats as pets, but dont know what Tinky did with it.

Take own mum to see some fancy rats in a non threatening way,so she can start to get over any problems with them [many dont like the look of the tails for some reason,am think the tail is the best feeling part of the rat].

sister originally took am out to get the first rats am ever had,and all of that was without parents choicw, neither of them liked it,but eventually mum [rat phobic] started stroking them and dad even nursed them and played with them.

The only reason I'd get a rat is to see if my conscience speaks up if I attempt to kill it. You'll never know these things unless you try, people.

Age doesn't matter.

Anyways, if I ever won the lottery, I'd move into a house, and get myself three ratties of my own. :O)
