I'll swap mine for your brussel sprouts, if you like!

Yes please :D

I'm welshing, I've just watched ITV's 'Save money, good food' program on ITV Player. They sliced the brussels up (like cabbage) and fried them with onion and bacon. :D

Let us know how it turns out.

So it's thyme and rosemary. I can't get that at the local grocery store -- at least not fresh. So I guess I'll wait until I can make it to the WalMart in a nearby town since they probably have it in their food section. But that's going to be after the Christmas rush is over because of the crowds.

I went shopping today in Tesco (supermarket) and it was very busy but that's me done now until after boxing day. I thought I'd treat myself to a nice cake but there was so much choice that I was overwhelmed and just stood there starring at them all, whole isles of fancy sweets and puds, getting in everyone's way. In the end I bought a small packet of fig biscuits, that's a low key as a biscuit gets :D

This is possibly my wierdest Christmas yet.

The last four or five years, we've had our Christmas Dinner at noon on Christmas Eve. Since this year it was on Sunday, we were to have dinner at 5 pm instead.

I arrived about 4:45 and was surprised that the table hadn't even been set yet. Instead of eating, we had gift opening first. The problem was that my oldest brother is usually ready to go home pretty quickly. So about 5:30 he went out and started the car and his wife went out about ten minutes later to go home and we hadn't eaten yet. Since it was already getting dark, I decided to follow them home to make sure that they got home okay. My niece fixed me plate of pork and roast potatoes to take with me and fixed a plate of chicken and potatoes au grautin for me to give to my oldest brother and his wife when they got home. So I left quite a while after them.

In case you don't realize it, as you get older, the amount of light that passes through your lens is more and more diminished. It doesn't make much difference in the daytime but it makes a big difference at night.

It is close to 20 miles home from my niece's house. I assumed that my oldest brother took the more obvious route and so I went that way expecting to pull up behind him soon. I made it all the way to his house without seeing him and so I figured he must have got lost. I called them on the cell phone and from his wife's description, I thought I knew where they were and so I went out to meet them. I couldn't find them. It turned out that they took a different route that is maybe 2 or 3 miles longer. Total travel time for them for the 22-23 mile route they took was close to an hour. Anyway, I dropped off their chicken and potatoes au grautin and headed back to my office (my house doesn't have any heat at the moment and so I'm staying at the office). As I passed the church I saw a number of cars and so I went in for the Christmas Eve Service.

I finally made it back to the office. It's now 9 pm and I'm finally getting ready to eat my Christmas dinner.

So how many people here get Christmas Dinner to go from their relatives? This is the first time I've ever done that.

Hello all, am here. Had a friend round tonight and he's here again tomorrow, not so bad - have had worse Christmases.

I managed to wait until 1pm to open my presents. Yep I got biscuits and chocolates of course. So I am glad I didn't buy any this week as I pre-empted this.

My dinner will be tonight as I am feeling full from last night - I had a late night meal of chicken wings.
I pretty much please myself and will pop over to see a friend shortly for a cup of tea after they have eaten.
I was invited but declined and chose to eat my own food - a lamb dinner I have been looking forward to.

Eating alone and spending the day relaxing in a quiet and stress free environment suits me.
But my heart goes out to those who don't like christmas and have to be around people they don't want to be.

I've just had some festive fish fingers and chips, and one of the above posts has reminded me that I have a christmas pudding, so will have that soon. Pretty calm and quiet in Cheshire.

Lamb's my favourite, yum. It's miserable outside but I'm running out of food so I am going to have to leave my snug little nest. I'm determined to get a freezer by next Christmas so I can store enough to hibernate properly like all civilised mammals :D .

Yes a freezer is a must.
I usually have plenty in the freezer and cupboard to last me for months.
We civilised mammals need our comfort and warmth.

@fluffysaurus "I've just had some festive fish fingers and chips . . . " = I was being ironic there, which isn't a good idea on an asperger site. Fish Fingers made in the shape of Christmas Trees would be a really good idea though.

The fish fingers are always the Lidl cheap ones, 15 for 1.30 gbp, not cod ones, but Alaskan Pollock (?) and they taste really good. Not quite as good as cod, but if you haven't had cod for a long time they taste great.

Have got a nut roast, frozen sprouts, tinned fried onions etc etc etc, but couldn't be bothered lashing up a Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day itself, so aiming for a New Year meal instead.

Just been shopping (Lidl) and bought 4 small Christmas puddings and custard, one for each day until New Year's Day.

I've got two freezers _ I like to get it all arranged so I can stay in the house for a week if it gets cold. Go shopping late when there are not too many people, and buy lots at a time.

I definitely don't have space for a bread maker, I had to swap the kettle for using a sauspan when I bought the toaster. But I think I've finally worked out how I can move everything around to make way for a freezer :D

I've no car and I like to walk so I go to the shops most days but I'm very careful to avoid when the schools kick out. It would be nice to have a bit more choice about going out though.

I get the 10 for 70p from Sainsburys and they're nice, some sort of white fish but I don't think they're cod. I find Sainsburys best because of the smaller packs of things I'll prob use the other supermarkets more if I get my freezer.
I'm gutted there are no reindeer or Christmas tree shaped fish fingers, they are definitely missing a trick. :D
