I heard that the coronavirus is dying down in China. Maybe it'll soon start to die down in the other affected countries in time. The media will soon get bored of it and it will just be another out of about 500 already existing viruses that kill thousands of vulnerable people every year.

Health crisis exposes the lack of funding in the public health system.
Tax the rich and companies more and increase spending on public health services.
In America they care too much about getting thousands out of you than offering decent health care.
Health care should be publicly funded and paid for by the rich and companies via taxation.

March is going to be the most tense period of time here in the US I think. Unless it actually gets totally out of control, which it didn't really in China, I hope for things to start going back to normal as April progresses.

People should always practice caution during flu season anyways. If everyone was always as careful as they are being now, there would be less colds and flu going around in general.

And it would probably be best from now on if people refrain from eating bats or whatever wild critters they get from street vendors.

As of yesterday, over 53,000 people in China have recovered from the virus, for which there are only around 27,000 still infected. And I read this morning that Chinese hospitals have released over 30,000 patients that have recovered.

The Indian Wells tennis tournament was cancelled. I understand why they did it, but if I were competing, I'd be angry that all my training went to waste.

People who think that this virus is no big deal are fools. China didn't have to build extra hospitals because of the flu, Italy didn't lock down the country because of the flu. UK didn't draft up plans to include the military to maintain order if it gets bad because of the flu. What happened in China and what is happening in Iran, Italy, South Korea will happen everywhere eventually. Healthcare systems absolutely will not be able to cope with this illness. In Italy the death rate is as high as 5-6%. It will cause a global recession worse than 2008 as not just demand will be hit(like 2008) but also supply side of the equation.

Yes ... yes ... of course ... gloom, doom, and despair ... no one escapes and resistance is futile ...

The BBC broadcasted from Cheltenham Festival (horse races) today and everyone that they interviewed was gung-ho about the virus. Afterwards, a virus expert said that the UK contagion was similar in size and scale to Italy's a couple of weeks ago. This afternoon a friend told me that his son is in one of France's epicentres and that the streets are deserted and the shops are closed.

The overall survival rate seems to be higher than 98%. Exaggerating the death rate is irresponsible and dangerous.
