Could you live without your computer?

I gone a few days without my labtop and I'm okay with that.

Ten years ago, I would have unhesitatingly answered yes to that question.

Now? Not a chance.

Yes. My computers don't control my breathing or my brain or any of my vital functions so I could live without them.

I went on a lovely vacation to a remote island, and after several days, started getting the itch to see e-mail, and my favorite websites.

The real question is, how long could you go in a rural agrarian setting with no electricity whatsoever. That is, how long could you live with an Amish family if it was a Reality TV show?

Yes, definitely.

I will admit it would be difficult for the first month or so.

In fact I went with out a computer for over a year about three years ago. I had an ancient PC (came with Windows 95). It contracted a virus that caused the hard drive to crash (most likely caused the heads to park wrong). I managed to get it working again but alas, it died again about a month later.

Not having a job at the time it made replacing it near impossible. Finally my dad asked if I wanted his PC (only about a year old with Windows 98 later upgraded to Xp) as he was getting a different model and setup. I accepted it gladly.

That PC too died but thankfully I was able to replace it not terribly long after. Now I am running a new model with Vista.

So to make a long story short... yes, I could. No, I would prefer not too (although there are times)!

Yes, but it would be REALLY hard. It's probably the thing I'd miss the most if I lost it.

I could. In the absence of a computer I do my next favorite activity: Pondering life and existence!

I wish I could say I do that better then my brother, who has basically developed his own completely unique theory on existence.

Went without one once for a week when there was a power outage. I've always wondered if I could manage that again, it wasn't as terrible as I'd thought it would be. I got a lot of reading done.

Yeah, but id destroy my DS and Wii form overuse....

Sure I could, but would I want to? No way.

It has improved my quality of life as a whole...sure it becomes addictive at times, but I think for myself the positives have definately outweighed the negatives.

I don't need to maintain my life but I would go insane without it.

I've been spoiled by digital art...the undo button is the best eraser ever created, and if I don't like the colors I've chosen, I can quickly change them. I have boxes of crayons, jars full of colored pencils, various pencils, pens and erasers...tons of paints and watercolors...all gathering dust Videogame development has also turned into a pretty large hobby for me.

Aside from that, I could probably live without the computer...I have enough other hobbies (and console videogames to play) to keep me busy...maybe I'd even try analogue art again

I could definitely live without the Internet. Before I found this forum, I was prettymuch idle all day. The only person I really talk to anymore is the GF, and I can talk to her whenever I want.

No way, I am addicted to my computer.
