I know, we have the greatest taste in poets and music
Nico is a cool name, I agree and I took the name after a German singer who I really like. I don't understand how you love my posts though, I do say the most awful things sometimes

Do you have any of her solo work?

I don't own any of her solo work yet, but I do own The Velvet Underground & Nico which is where I first heard her.

VU & Nico is as good as it gets but The Marble Index and Desertshore are two albums I hold in very high regard. The songs were sort of fleshed out by Cale but they were essentially her own harmonium compositions, in a really unique sort of minimal style which bridges folk and avant-garde music. Gothic folk, industrial and dark wave music owes a lot to her, which I suppose is a different sort of area than Reed's rock. Whenever I think of Nico I tend to think of The Marble Index.

You are right about her influence on different genres of music, I can hear various artists today try to imitate her unique style, her voice in particular. I love the monotonous severity of the way she phrases her words. She comes across as very serene and serious, which is how I'm described so I identify with her in that way.

My hair is thick too and I've been thinking about getting it cut or something it's gotten so long that it kind of hurts my head.
