I've always wanted to go to Iceland.

I have thought about going there myself. Its history is closely related to Norway, after all the Icelandic people orginally comes from Norway. Their language resembles Norwegian as it was spoken in the middle ages. It is to distant to understand today, as modern Norwegian has changed a lot. Actually, this is a bit annoying, as, the few times I have heard it spoken, I feel that I SHOULD understand it. It just feels SO familiar...

Where in Norway have you been?
So far I've only been to Oslo. It's a pleasant enough city even though everyone I know who lives there seems to dislike it (as seen in the later posts on this thread :) ).

I would like to visit Bergen and the west fjords. I've wanted to take a trip on the Hurtigrute for a long time.

The west coast is more beautiful. It rains a lot there, though (does so NOW in fact). It rains a lot in the autumn.

Yep, the man is right, the west coast is nice

I would like to retract some of my Oslo-hate mentioned earlier :)
being a nature boy i am not the right one to ask about citys,
i probably wont like them no matter what :) So, Oslo might be
a gem to others despite my feelings towards it.

I like to live in relatively large places (like Bergen). But I am not sure if it is the size with Oslo or what it is. But I generally find people in Bergen to be nicer. I love Bergen. I grew u¨p a little south of Oslo myself.
