There is a discussion board I go to where they use the word "whore" to describe anything they do a lot. Very offputting and now they are using "pimp" a lot too. I hate it when everything is defined by things to do with procreation or activities associated with it.

-Snicket I truely hate that name. I'd have to be a jerk to call someone that in my area.
-Trunks. Ehem, are they named after pants or a storage box?

-Mercy. Now that's worse than 'Faith', IMO. Espectialy due to the fact the kid had it as a middle name.

Hookworm. Once they latch on, they don't let go.

Hagfish. I don't like 'hag' so hagfish sorta follows.

I hate unnecessary adverbs, especially in novels or stories. I especially hate the words 'quickly' or 'slowly.'

I hate certain cliched phrases. My particular pet peeve is the following:

'I thought to myself...'

People say it all the time but it irritates me because as soon as I hear it, I think,
"Well, who ELSE can you 'think to' except yourself?"

And another one I hear a lot: 'At the end of the day....'

Aaaarrgghhhhh.....

Slimey.

Can't think of any words I really hate but there are phrases:
Most hated: "To be honest... "
Telling me everything else was a lie???

Turd.

"Pole position", "shooting-star" and "sunnyboy" - three English expressions used ad nauseam in the Swiss press...
