Speaking of Jade Goody: all she has to do is get cancer, and suddenly everyone forgets that they hated her before (remember the Shilpa Shetty row?). Maybe I should try it... Yes, I may sound like an a**hole, but it's true.

I agree. It's like her illness has become an absolution of sorts, and all of her idiotic, comically ignorant and prejudiced public statements have been wiped away.

Hooray for Joe Public's short attention span...

Seconded. In fact, I'm sick of hearing about dieting and people's weight in general... we seem to be obsessed with this subject.

I'm very, very sick of that. My eyes are drawn to those awful magazines (Has -celebrity- lost/gained weight? Lose 10lb in 10days! Swimsuits to flatter your figure!) and I have to really make myself look away so I don't read the cover and become angry. :x :x :x

I'm also sick of hearing that something increases your risk of cancer or might be linked to risk of cancer. Everything gives you cancer. Not much else kills people now days anyway.

Most of the people that magazines claim are overweight are actually underweight or normal weight. It's just awful, nothing but a way to sell those horrible diet pills and all that crap. Those who are bigger than the modern standard of beauty are made to feel inadequate, while those of us who are naturally skinny get called anorexic by people trying to prove the former point. The whole beauty industry is screwed up. :(

Everything seems to cause either cancer or autism, it would seem. Nothing "causes" autism anyway, but saying random things cause cancer could be very dangerous, as people will be less likely to take it seriously when it's actually true.

I know. There's an advert on TV at the moment for diet pills and the 'before' picture is about my size. I'm not overweight. :|
You express exactly what I think the whole time. It's not just the industry - it's our whole culture now. It also tells us you can't be old, too pale, too dark, have frizzy hair, ginger hair, small breasts, teeth that overlap etc. etc.
The fact that I had a friend who suffered from anorexia makes this worse for me. And I think maybe my Aspieness does too. It's nice to see people here who see how messed up it all is and don't just accept it/become part of it.

People are ALWAYS saying I'm too pale. It's cos I'm inside all the time, and the only time I even want to go outside is when I'm on holiday, because I like hot weather and it's always so cold here in England that I don't wanna go outside. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with having light skin, because back in Victorian times pale skin was considered to be the most beautiful. Tanned skin is just another passing trend.

Carbon offsets are a joke. They're just a way to let rich people do whatever they want and feel less guilty about it.

I am sick of hearing about:

- How unattractive it is to be pale (Yeah, so I'm pale, who cares?)

- Those prostate enlargement commercials. Um...why?

- The recession. At the very least we could have some good news.

- Politics.

- Twilight. Still being talked about obsessively at school. Still being gasped at for not wanting to sleep with Edward.

- How video games are resulting in school shootings. For a person to do something like that, they would have to have issues beforehand.

I guess I'm lucky. Who the hell is Jade Goody? (Not gonna Google it)

Anyway - I have no idea and I'm already sick of hearing her name... so I guess she really is annoying.

She's this really horrid woman who was on Celebrity Big Brother (another show I have never watched and don't wish to), and there was a big race row because she was picking on this Indian woman who was on there because of her race, so basically everyone realises what a b***h Jade Goody is, only then she gets terminal cancer so everyone suddenly feels sorry for her and forgets that they hated her before. I don't even know what she was originally supposed to be famous for, TBH.

She was famous for being famous, basically. She showed up on one of the original Big Brother shows as just another member of the general public, and quickly gained notoriety for being dumber than a box of rocks (she thought East Anglia, a county in the south east of the UK - her home country - was overseas, for Zod's sake!). Then she showed up on some other reality shows based around her, because apparently the viewers couldn't do without her.

I despair.

She sounds about as useful as Elizabeth Hasselbeck (Survivor alumni) who has WAAAAAY too much power and influence in the US. I didn't even know she was from Survivor until I questioned her big fat mouth and someone told me about her "qualifications". What a total b***h.
