On a Samsung phone, diacritics can be added to letters by holding the relevant key down until a menu with available options comes up. :D This is quite handy when you're typing in a language that isn't available in the list of language keyboards on the phone.

...

Unfortunately there's a problem when it comes to Māori, which uses macrons with vowels (like the 'ā' in Māori). Not all the macronned vowels in Māori seem to be available – ā, ē, ī and ū are present on the standard English keyboard, but not ō. There are other languages that use macrons, but not all the ones used in Māori. :help:

It also doesn't help that Samsung doesn't have a Māori (or Hawaiian) keyboard. And the one free Māori keyboard I found on Google Play won't download onto my phone for some strange reason. :x Hopefully Samsung will add one in the future; for now I'll use the macronned letters they have, and an umlauted-o (ö) in lieu of 'ō'. :(

That mead is an alcoholic beverage made from honey.
I knew for years that it was an alcoholic beverage, but I didn't know it was made from honey. I always thought it was an Ole English word for beer or something.

And I learned it from a Facebook game, of all things.

^^ Interesting, didn't know that.

I learned kazanscube's old username. It's odd he remembers me as I spent a lot of my time goofing off with users like werbert, OWA, ShadesofMe, Quatermass, and TheMachine1 in Random Discussion. He appeared to have stayed in General Autism Discussion most of the time.

Today I learned that if a leek is woody when you start to cut it up, it will not magically become not-woody with any amount of cooking.
Also? I don't like chewy, fibrous leeks-and-potatoes.

Breast cancer starts with a lump not with actual pain. Unless, you have inflammatory breast cancer. Quite sneaky.

Yes tinky2, during that initial timeline from 2007-2011 I tended to stay in the Random forums as, there were many people whom I had became acquainted with other time as well, I'm not really known for being funny in the literal sense. Never less many things had changed over the many years and I simply found myself moving towards more of a humorous themed forums due in part to many wp members leaving, disappearing, etc.

Not something I've learned but I may learn it here. I watched pics and how it was defined. Sandy hair, and it was in between brownish or blond or even red.

What exactly is sandy hair?

To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be place under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality." -Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

That's terrifying yet cool at the same time

I learned that a dog can recover from eating your mother's entire birthday cake in just one day.

I've learned that astronomers are constantly discovering both new stars and planets both within our system and outside of it, which tells me that our knowledge is always constantly growing.

I learned they replaced "I Believe I Can Fly" with American Author's "Best day of My Life" for my former elementary school's 6th grade promotion song.

shame.
