#3--Baudelaire-----I'm sure you would find him too "bawdy."

He is the lie, but because I HAVE read him. You're right about his being "bawdy" of course, but its precisely his sense of his sin and his listless remorse that I like. People often think of Baudelaire as a later de Sade, but that's not true at all. Even at his worst, he still has a conscience and a desire to transcend his evil; the lyricism and pathos of his disgust at his evil make this quite clear.

Nietzsche. You'd find him too "bawdy".

Here's three more:

1. I briefly wanted to be a monk (in general) when I was punished at age 15.

2. I wanted to be a Franciscan Friar, in a way.

3. I wholeheartedly agree with being woken up at Prime in monasteries.....

Actually, it's Dante.

I don't know why I haven't picked up the Divine Comedy yet......

I find Nietzsche interesting----not for the reasons the Nazis liked him, though.

1. The shirt I'm wearing was made to measure.
2. I prefer flat shoes to high heels on women.
3. The best dressed man in Britain, in my opinion, is Prince Charles.

My lie was #1. I think high heels are extremely classy and attractive, but not modest enough. Still - if, as a woman, you wear high heels at all, you're in the top 20% or so, dress wise.

Most of my shirts are custom made, but not this one.

HRH strolling through Hyde Park a few years ago with someone I'd guess was a protection officer or other aide. What are the chances?

Incidentally, I love the blue pinstripe style. I have a suit with almost precisely the same design, but only two buttons.

I wouldn't even want to be woken up for Nones.....

1. I want to watch the waves of the sea while sleeping on a stone bed with a stone pillow.

2. I want to wear a hairshirt to "punish" myself.

3. I was not bar-mitzvahed, even though my mother is Jewish.

It is #2. But there was a brief period in my life when I admired St. Thomas More (who used to wear a hairshirt). I find he was one of the great Renaissance People.

1. I enjoy Machiavellian exploits.

2. I enjoy looking at Thomas Nast's cartoons about Boss Tweed (a famous New York corrupt politician).

3. I once saw the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in person.
