Getting your religious symbology right helps too. The upside down cross (not crucifix*) is the cross of St. Peter, a symbol of great humility before Christ. St. Peter thought that being crucified in the same way as Christ was not humble enough, so he insisted on being crucified upside down. It's also the symbol of the Pope, who is officially the successor of St. Peter. The Scottish diagonal cross (saltire) has the same origin, as St. Andrew didn't want to be a copy-cat, either. So I guess "Stan" is a very humble Catholic who should bring up his idolatry at next confession!
The insult to Christ is to hang a whole crucifix* upside down, so that the Christ figure appears upside down too.
(*crucifix = cross with Christ figure.)
