Have you ever spent all day doing something only to realise later that you should have done it differently?
And it would have been far easier?

That's happened to me several times. I'm often far too stubborn for my own good.

my days seem more and more to consist of me making things over and over again.
In a way I think it's good, because it means you're developing your ideas - but at the same time quite frustrating. :x

I think now I have to physically see something made before I can problem solve and develop ideas, before I could do it all in my head, or on paper.

I have so much guilt for no real reason. I don't know what to do about it.

That's my job. I test industrial 3D scanning & modeling software.

So, do you get to tell other people how they could have done it better?

That's most of what I get to do. 8O It's actually a lot more pressure than you'd probably read from these posts.

Where does the pressure come from?
Expectations?
Time constraints?
Having to explain things to oblivious people?

Darn expectations, including imaginary/self constructed ones.

Is it ok to kill someone who's been using a high-pitched, whizzy air tool for the last half hour?

I think it helps to keep in mind that nothing actually exists out there in the real world.
Everything is imaginary and self constructed, but no one realises.
So don't tell anyone, will ya?

It's funny, whenever people mention 'real life' or 'reality', I usually think, 'what reality? Isn't reality in the eye of the beholder and therefor subjective?'

Some of everything. Mostly time constraints and expectations of consistency that's very tricky to replicate because every task is different. I have to be an unending stream of engineering feedback about an increasing number of expensive tech projects, software and (to some extent) hardware. We're making it all up as we go along because that's how things are made.
