whats the point in getting to know ANYONE if sooner or later someone's just going to tell me they're toxic and i should get rid of them?

Wouldn't that only apply if you're working under the assumption everyone is toxic? Cheer up Kip, you're going to meet a lot of people and some will be worth getting to know no matter how things end up. Don't give up, anyone would be lucky to get to know you. If they end up being toxic, then move forward without them.
