My issue is the opposite then because my misunderstandings seem to happen online but in real life not so much maybe because of my tone of voice and body language so people can see that I am not being rude or snotty and all not matter how I am wording it. Online, people only see text so people like to read into things.
I'd love for you to give me lessons on how to appear approachable or warm or understandable. If only we all lived near each other in real life. Maybe you could assess my attitude, body language, tone etc.
It's either because I live in a small village or I am terminally intimidating, because most people take most things I say wrongly and get offended.
Once I said to a fellow mum in the school playground that she looked nice in her leather jacket. She was so offended! She snapped 'what do you mean, I look nice in this??'
I felt like saying 'erm...I'm giving you a compliment? Perhaps accept it graciously?' But I thought that would have made it worse.
I don't really talk to anyone anymore because whatever I say is taken wrongly, I don't know why so I've given up. I just tend to nod and smile at people now.
