I had lots of arguments/fights with my parents when I was a kid about my room needing to be clnead because they thought it was messy but it's usually the cleanest room in the house except for maybe the bathrooms. My dad compulsively buys stuff for his work(he works in construction) that he never uses & doesn't have place to store(he probably has OCPD) & my room & the bathrooms are the only rooms in the house where he's not leaving his junk out in the way. I have some empty boxes in my closet because my dad will want to store stuff there if he sees space. Parents want me to have a clean room because the rest of the rooms are very messy. Seems hypocritical to me

I consider my office my 'room' (as my gf and I share the bedroom). But I have a futon in here, a 27" TV, video games, a desk, my computer. Lots of maps all over the walls and a few band posters. My guitars and my amp. A lot of books. Its my little domain in our home. The 'Man Cave' as my gf calls it 8)

That's pretty cool.

My room...has a whip (like you use for a horse) just sitting in the corner. I just realized that could appear strange to some people, lol.

There's a stack of magazine articles related to Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter sitting on top of my DVD shelf.

I'm at my parents', so I'll refer to that one.
It just got wallpapered with a border I picked out, with birdcages.
I'd like to eventually have a framed quote of "I know why the caged bird sings" hung over my bed....which is ancient, and very uncomfortable, actually.

My house...let's see....
I've kept a cardboard box in my kitchen for a month now because a certain feisty fat tom cat likes to get in it and smack at whoever walks by through the handle holes, "whoever" meaning me, of course. It's the first box we've had that he doesn't collapse outward with the weight of his....corpulence.

I've got a bookshelf full of all kinds of books ranging from Animorphs (shh... ) to the complete works of Poe. Not to mention my numerous books on spirituality and my texts books from my Child Development classes when I considered being a school teacher.

My room contains an ape, a bag full of bags, and some very tasty caramel shortbread. The last bit won't apply for long, though...

What types of tea occupy that bookshelf?

My tea stash only occupies a shelf--but it has spread to the kitchen and occupies a chunk of a cupboard as well.
