In that picture it looks like a holiday so basically it's saying that the man can't relax and needs the news while the woman can relax and read fashion. As for the fruit how dare they suggest that women eat fruit wtf !
People are too sensitive , there is no context to that photo , what if she was proof reading her own magazine and he was looking at the sports page or cartoon page.
Maybe the woman got up early , did all the dishes and housework , already has read the newspaper so is now relaxing

The hotel had to take down the ad and apologise because "how dare they suggest that women don't read The Financial Review?"
