I keep longing for the Christmases I experienced as a child and teenager, at home with my mother and the rest of the family. Even when I was a teenager Christmas was still always a happy and exciting time. I remember one Christmas morning when I was about 17 there was snow laying about but it was sunny out, there wasn't anybody walking about in the street because they were all indoors with their families, yet looking out the window it still felt full of life outside, with church bells ringing in the distance, and the smell of my mother's delicious cooking the Christmas lunch permeating through the house. I felt so safe, so loved, so happy.
I mean I do now, with my husband, but I do miss my mother and the Christmases I spent with family.

I can't imagine a penguin reading a book but I can imagine an otter reading reading a book

My sister bought something for me for Christmas and now we're all giving each other something small. I wonder what my sister gave me. Could it be one of those Routemasters from Dollars and Cents? An artificial gingerbread house. maybe a Christmas pickle. Could it be something to do with Germany? Maybe she saw an Om Nom plushie on Ebay.

When I compare myself to the rest of my family, I feel so....German. It's like they're all cut out of the same cloth, my mum, dad, sister and cousins. The red, white and blue, my sister mostly red and white. They're also all very healthy without any health problems. They get around well and they don't have to worry about surprises. If stoicism was an Olympic sport, they would all get gold medals, even my 16 year old niece.

On the one hand false staff = shaky spear. On the other hand I am having many thoughts about Miler Magrath.

I'll be playing Christmas music until February 2nd. Ringo wants to be Santa Claus. In a way, he was for a time. All 4 of The Beatles were Santa Claus during the years of Beatlemania.

I'm 51 and I'm talking about Beatlemania. I should be talking about the fall of The Berlin Wall. I was talking about something British for once. What a switch. :P

It's just going to be my mum, dad and I for Christmas dinner. Why do I see visions of Newkirk, Lebeau and Schultz sharing a turkey dinner?

I know. My mum's French Canadian, my dad bears the British last name of the family and I take after the Germans on my dad's side.
