My new boss is one of those stupid people who quickly jump to the conclusion that the level of confidence one exhibits equals to how competent he/she is, hence believing my colleague, whose stuffups often have to be fixed by me, is more competent than I.
It would be nice to be able say "hey Boss you are an idiot" but then again who likes looking for another job and having to skip that one as a reference. In a perfect world the boss would give you a promotion and thank you for setting him straight.
Confidence does not equal competence. You can fake confidence but you cannot fake competence. You just can't.
