Social interactions are hard. I think things are going well, then I get the distinct feeling the person has cooled towards me and that is usually followed by them making an excuse and going away. I run things over in my mind but cannot quite put my finger on what has gone wrong. These days I try and deflect and ask questions instead of the usual thing of the other person asking me questions and me oversharing. When I do decide to leave out a key point that would lead to oversharing it is quite a victory but at the same time I feel dishonest. It's weird. I would rather have little or no social interaction.

Very well put. I agree 100% and I know what you mean about "deciding to leave out key points". When I see my doctor I obsess for days ahead of time deciding what to say or not say, what to emphasise or deemphasise so that I don't seem like a hypochondriac or likewise like I'm not taking my health seriously. Then I have to juggle any stress I'm still bearing about the previous encounter, because I'm likely still ruminating about that too.
When I talk to her I go into a vortex where my other senses shut down and I'm in a type of tunnel vision hearing my voice squonk. Then it's over and I have to fill in the blanks about what really transpired. It's worse that I know her so well, because I assume she's keeping a running inventory of my peculiarities. I was even with her when I had my stroke! She's super nice but ... I won't recover from the visit for a few weeks at least.
same q about rumination.
