swiftly remove yourself from the living if you believe common words such as "sun" and "edge" should be trademarked.

We never say ass-whoopin here.
We would say arse-whipping.

I once wrote a short story with a main character called Thomas Domino.
His nickname was Tomdom.

I don't swear either, ok? :x Hence the quotes, ok? I was only saying that to make the joke more clear, ok?

Is that swearing?
I didn't realize.
Swearing is used very differently where I live.

Ya, hats what swearing means around here, although for me in particular "darn" is the worst swear I say. As I tell people "just because I CAN swear, doesn't mean I SHOULD swear". Of course that usually lands me with lots of "oh your so Autistic". :?

So, "ass-whoopin" is considered a swear word?
Is it because it contains the word "ass" or does "whoopin" mean something I'm not aware of?
Isn't an ass a donkey?

If I ever visited another country, I don't think I would speak at all, just in case I said something offensive without knowing it.

"Ass" is another word for butt and is considered a "bad" word. Just like how "slag" means hot metal shavings here but means something far different in the UK. The same goes for "fanny".

"Whooping" is pretty much another word for kicking or beating. So "ass-whoopin'" is pretty much an adult version of butt-kicking. But of course I wasn't going to use "ass-whoopin" in my story, I'm more subtle than that, so I "foreign-ized" it to Arsewhumpin.

^ Ok.
I get stuck on words sometimes.
Whenever someone says "ass", I always picture a donkey.
I don't associate it with the rear aspect of a person.

^ It's an ass making whoopie.
haha.

That's probably very inappropriate, isn't it?

I think I'm just a bad person. :(

^Well, by that logic, I'm a bad person, too, since when I hear or see the word 'ass' I think of a donkey. My favourite alternate phrase for 'badass' is 'terrible-donkey'. I hope someone gets that.

I think like that too.

For example, a toaster is a bread burner.

I know someone with the surname Paterson.

I can't think of them without thinking Father, son.

Don't ever say that, you are NOT a bad person. All of this was simply language differences, it is not your fault.

Quartz v. Amethyst, Calcite - "The Torch". Santino Mine, Artigas, Uruguay "The Torch" is an excellent example of the complexity and splendor that the Santiño Mine can yield. At first glance it looks like an expertly prepared deep purple amethyst geode with a calcite crystal positioned in a particularly striking pose. ^ Wow.

The caption says at first glance...but it doesn't say what a second glance will yield, so I found myself glancing at it about a hundred times.

Nope.
Still looks like an expertly prepared deep purple amethyst geode with a calcite crystal positioned in a particularly striking pose.

Yeah they were trying to make the wording seem more interesting.
